Short Bio

My name is Angela Lafreniere, a self-taught Pyrography and Pastel artist who has fallen head over heels in love with the captivating world of wood-burning and the colorful world of Pastels.

Biography

My journey as an artist began years ago in the early 2000s, alongside my late husband, Hal, who was a talented tattoo artist and my mentor.  I tattooed professionally for 8 years until roadblocks in life popped up and we decided to shut down our shop.  In the last few years, I have hopped back on the art ride and am so glad I did. My only regret is that I did not start sooner.

When I started Pyrography, I discovered fascinating parallels between the intricate art of tattooing and the unique craft of wood-burning. This realization sparked a renewed passion within me, pushing me to explore new horizons. I'm eager to experiment with materials like leather and bone, expanding my artistic boundaries beyond wood.  I was so excited to dive into the world of Pastels, where I can now offer my work with vibrant colors. But it's not just about my growth and exploration, I find immense solace in sharing my experiences, embracing mistakes, and guiding others on their artistic journeys.      My commissioned pieces have found their way into the homes of clients throughout the United States and England, and the thought of expanding my reach fills my soul.  As Charred Treasures, my ultimate goal is to share my feelings, vision, and love of nature through my artwork.
